I'd like to say this photo of yours truly at the age of five foretold my love of writing about horses, cowboys and Indians. Truthfully, it was a photo opportunity offered during those years to many children. The pony wasn't mine, neither were the chaps or the hat.
Not until I had been married for many years, had three children, and moved to the country did we finally own horses...six of them before we were done.

Here I am in 1966, riding the first horse we owned. Duke was 14.2 hands, a feisty mustang that knew more about people than people knew about horses. He was a lot of fun to ride, although he had a hard mouth. We thought he may have been bread on the plains somewhere, because even in Southern California he would develop a lovely winter coat that spoke of cold country.

One thing published romance writers do is conduct workshops, and here I am at the podium at a Southwest Florida Romance Writers meeting. My subject that day was, SO, YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR BOOK? Other workshops I do are titled: AFTER THE CALL; CHARACTERIZATION: Folks are more than pretty faces; POINT OF VIEW: Find a head and stick to it...most of the time; NUTS & BOLTS: So, you think you want to write a book for publication.
